KARACHI: Mayor Murtaza Wahab announced that Karachi will receive 100 million gallons of water daily starting January 2027.

This significant development was revealed during the inauguration of a sewage treatment plant in Haroonabad on October 3, 2026.

During his address, Mayor Wahab emphasized the transformation of the area, which was once barren, into a hub for essential services.

He stated, “This project marks a new era for Karachi, ensuring that our citizens have access to clean and sufficient water supply, which is vital for their daily needs and the city’s growth.”

The introduction of this water supply is expected to alleviate the chronic water shortages faced by Karachi’s residents, improving living conditions and supporting local businesses.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance the city’s infrastructure and public services, which have been under strain due to rapid urbanization and population growth.

Looking ahead, the city administration plans to implement further projects aimed at improving water distribution and sewage management.

The mayor has called for collaboration with federal and provincial governments to ensure the successful execution of these initiatives.
