Karachi Shop Owner Found Dead Days After Disappearance

Karachi: A 25-year-old shop owner who went missing from Karachi’s PECHS area has been found dead in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, with police suspecting that he was tortured before being killed.
The victim was identified as Mir Raza Ali, son of Mir Hassan Ali, a resident of PECHS Block 2 and owner of dessert shop Wafflix near Bahadurabad Chowrangi.
According to police, Raza Ali’s body was recovered from bushes near Shadi Qila wedding hall in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 1 and was shifted to Jinnah Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Police officials said initial investigation suggested that the victim may have been subjected to torture before being shot. Authorities also found burn marks on parts of the body, while identification was confirmed by his family through his clothes and a distinguishing mark.
SHO Kamran Qureshi said the exact cause of death would be determined after the post-mortem report. He added that the body appeared to be one to two days old at the time of recovery.
A kidnapping case had already been registered at Ferozabad police station after Raza Ali went missing in the early hours of July 28.
According to the FIR, Raza Ali returned home from his shop in his car late at night and told his mother around 4am that he was going outside briefly. However, he did not return.
When his family later tried contacting him, his mobile phone was found switched off. After searching for him and contacting Madadgar 15, the family approached police and registered a case against unidentified suspects.
Police have started collecting CCTV footage from the surrounding areas near the recovery site and are investigating the circumstances behind the kidnapping and murder.
Authorities said further progress in the case will depend on evidence collected during the investigation and the post-mortem findings.
