JUI-F Fazl Accuses Govt of Denying Right to Protest

ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday lashed out at the federal administration, accusing the incumbent rulers of systematically denying citizens and political parties their fundamental right to stage peaceful, legitimate protests.
Addressing a press conference in the federal capital, the veteran politician pointed out that authorities virtually sealed off Islamabad simply because a few political factions announced demonstrations.
He argued that the current leadership in power remains tight-lipped over the heavy-handed measures, demonstrating an authoritarian approach that stifles democratic dissent across the country.
