JI Chief Rejects Joint PTI Protest Alliance in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD:Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has categorically dismissed any possibility of forming a joint protest alliance with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) within the federal capital’s high-security Red Zone.
Speaking during a current affairs program on a local news channel, the JI leader clarified his party’s political stance amidst ongoing speculations regarding opposition unity against the federal government.
Hafiz Naeem emphasized that while opposition parties share common concerns regarding public hardships,
Jamaat-e-Islami operates with an independent political roadmap and distinct ideological objectives. He pointed out that the party’s recent demonstrations and upcoming protest movements are specifically centered on rejecting oppressive economic policies, soaring inflation, and the continuous imposition of heavy petroleum levies affecting the salaried and working classes.
The rejection of a coordinated physical sit-in or joint demonstration inside the Red Zone underscores the fragile nature of opposition cooperation in Pakistan’s current political landscape.
Analysts note that while both parties frequently oppose government policies, strategic disagreements over timing, venue selection, and political messaging continue to keep their street movements distinct and unmerged.
