Hundreds of LLB Degrees Declared Fake at SALU

SUKKUR: Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) has declared hundreds of its LLB degrees as fraudulent following an investigation initiated by the Sindh government.

On Saturday, a scrutiny committee formed under the directives of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah reported that out of 1,225 degrees reviewed, 1,184 were found to be fake.

The scrutiny committee’s findings have raised serious concerns regarding the integrity of the university’s degree issuance process.

Chief Minister Shah emphasized the need for accountability and transparency in educational institutions, stating, “We must ensure that our education system is not compromised by fraudulent practices that undermine the value of legitimate degrees.”

This revelation has significant implications for the legal profession in Pakistan, as it raises questions about the qualifications of numerous practicing lawyers who may have obtained these degrees.

The scandal could lead to a broader investigation into other educational institutions and their degree verification processes, potentially impacting public trust in higher education.

In response to the findings, the Sindh government is expected to initiate further investigations into the university’s administration and degree issuance protocols.

Stakeholders are calling for immediate reforms to prevent such incidents in the future, ensuring that all degrees awarded are legitimate and uphold the standards of the legal profession.
