Federal Govt Authorizes Army Deployment in KP

News Desk

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has authorized the deployment of Pakistan Army troops and assets in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to assist civil authorities in maintaining security, following the imposition of emergency and governor’s rule in the province.

This decision, approved under Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution, comes after the president endorsed recommendations from the federal cabinet. The authorization was formalized through SRO (1)/2026, issued by the interior ministry on Sunday.

The deployment aims to ensure the safety of citizens, protect property, and secure government installations during the ongoing emergency.

This move reflects the government’s commitment to restoring order and stability in the region, which has faced increasing security challenges.

In the coming days, the government is expected to outline further measures to address the underlying issues that led to the emergency declaration, as well as to monitor the effectiveness of the army’s involvement in civil affairs.
