Bodies of Three Fishermen Recovered After Boat Capsizes Off Karachi

KARACHI: The bodies of three fishermen were recovered on Tuesday after a fishing boat capsized near Sea View’s Nishan-i-Pakistan monument, leading to a tragic search operation that began the previous day.

According to a statement from the Edhi Foundation, two fishermen were rescued safely on Monday evening, while three others went missing following the incident. The foundation confirmed that the bodies of the deceased have been identified as 55-year-old Abdul Salam, 30-year-old Muna, and 35-year-old Saeed, also known as Kalu. The bodies were transported to Jinnah Hospital via Edhi ambulances.

This incident highlights ongoing safety concerns for fishermen operating in the region, particularly as the boat reportedly developed a fault at sea. Rescue 1122 spokesperson Hassaan Ul Haseeb Khan noted that authorities had enlisted the help of the Pakistan Navy and Coast Guard to assist in the recovery efforts, underscoring the collaborative response to maritime emergencies.

As investigations into the cause of the capsizing continue, local authorities are expected to review safety protocols for fishing operations in the area to prevent future tragedies.
