Balochistan Assembly Passes Bills to Enhance Legal Framework

QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly convened on Tuesday to pass two significant amendment bills aimed at bolstering the province’s legal and public service framework.
The session, presided over by Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, saw the approval of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1898 Balochistan Amendment Bill and the Balochistan Citizen Facilitation and Governance Bill 2026.
Provincial Minister Mir Saleem Khosa presented both pieces of legislation on behalf of the home minister, with the bills receiving backing from the Standing Committee on Home Affairs.
The Code of Criminal Procedure amendment is expected to streamline legal processes, while the Citizen Facilitation and Governance Bill aims to enhance public service delivery.
The passage of these bills is a crucial step towards improving governance in Balochistan, addressing long-standing issues related to legal inefficiencies and public service accessibility. This legislative move is anticipated to foster greater trust in governmental institutions among citizens.
Looking ahead, the Balochistan Cadet Colleges Amendment Bill 2026 was also introduced but has been referred to the relevant standing committee for further deliberation.
The assembly’s ongoing legislative agenda indicates a commitment to reform and development in the province.
