AJK Election Results: PML-N Wins 14 Seats in 2nd Phase

Islamabad: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has further tightened its hold on the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly after securing a commanding lead in the second phase of the general elections, reinforcing its position as the frontrunner to form the next government.
According to provisional and unofficial results announced so far, PML-N has won 14 of the 20 seats contested in the second phase, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) secured five seats. Polling remains incomplete in two constituencies, where voting will resume before final official results are declared.
The second phase included eight constituencies in the Muzaffarabad division and 12 seats reserved for Kashmiri refugees living in different cities across Pakistan.
The latest outcome builds on PML-N’s strong performance in the first phase of the elections, where it captured nine of the 13 seats in the Mirpur division, with PPP winning the remaining four. The combined results have given PML-N a clear overall advantage in the race for control of the 53-member Legislative Assembly.
Several senior PML-N leaders emerged victorious, including former Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider, along with Shah Ghulam Qadir and Mustafa Bashir Abbasi. On the PPP side, Mian Abdul Waheed, Sardar Mukhtar Khan and Aamir Ghaffar Lone were among the successful candidates.
Meanwhile, election officials reported an unusual trend in a handful of polling stations, where voter turnout was either extremely low or completely absent. No votes were cast at polling stations in Shikarpur and Chak Jhumra, while only a single voter turned out at one polling station in Dera Ghazi Khan.
The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly consists of 53 seats, including 33 directly elected seats, eight reserved seats and 12 seats representing Kashmiri refugees residing in Pakistan. Final results will be announced after polling concludes in the remaining constituencies.
