Video Reveals Taal Volcano Erupts Near Manila

News Desk

MANILA: Taal Volcano, located near the Philippine capital, erupted briefly on Wednesday, producing a dark grey ash plume that soared approximately 4,000 metres above its crater.

The eruption occurred at around 2:00 PM local time, prompting immediate alerts from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

Officials reported that the eruption lasted for about 30 minutes, with the ash cloud drifting towards the southwest.

Residents in nearby areas were advised to wear masks and stay indoors to avoid inhaling ash particles. PHIVOLCS has raised the alert level for Taal Volcano, indicating a potential for further eruptions.

This eruption raises concerns for local communities, as Taal is one of the most active volcanoes in the Philippines.

The surrounding areas, which are home to thousands of residents, could face significant disruptions if the volcanic activity escalates. The government is closely monitoring the situation, and emergency response teams are on standby to assist affected populations.

Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and prepare for possible evacuations if the situation worsens. PHIVOLCS is expected to hold a press conference later today to provide updates on the volcano’s activity and safety measures for residents.
