Thailand School Shooting Leaves Seven Dead

Islamabad: A shooting at a school in Thailand’s Nonthaburi province has left at least seven people dead and 15 others injured, according to the police sources.

The incident took place on Friday at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Bang Kruai district, north of Bangkok. Police said the suspected gunman was a student who later died by suicide.

Thai national police spokesperson Trairong Phiwphan confirmed the casualty figures, while Nonthaburi Provincial Police Commander Lt Col Dechrapee Kongdee also confirmed that the suspected shooter had taken his own life.

The motive behind the shooting was not immediately clear, and authorities have not released further details about the identities of those killed or injured.

An 18-year-old student told Reuters that he initially mistook the sound of gunfire for firecrackers or someone hitting an object.

“There were many shots,” the student said, describing how the firing stopped briefly before starting again.

Images shared by emergency responders showed students leaving the school as ambulances and emergency personnel arrived at the scene. At least one injured person was photographed being treated outside an ambulance.

The school, located on the northwestern outskirts of Bangkok, had around 3,100 students and 147 teachers during the 2025 academic year, according to district authorities.

The shooting comes months after another school-related gun attack in Thailand. In February, a teacher was killed and a student injured when a gunman opened fire at a school in the southern city of Hat Yai.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the latest incident, including the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the possible motive of the suspected attacker.
