Security Forces Foil Infiltration Bid in Kurram, Kill 12 Militants

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces thwarted a major cross-border infiltration attempt along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kurram district, eliminating 12 militants during an intense exchange of fire, military authorities said on Friday.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), troops detected the movement of a heavily armed group belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij trying to slip across the international frontier.

Alert border units immediately engaged the infiltrators, effectively neutralizing 12 terrorists while recovering a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives.

The military media wing affirmed that the operation reflected the uncompromising vigilance of the armed forces in securing the country’s territorial boundaries.

Cross-border incursions along the porous western border have remained a critical security flashpoint, straining bilateral relations between Islamabad and Kabul.

Pakistan has repeatedly urged the interim Afghan Taliban administration to uphold its international commitments and prevent militant networks from using Afghan soil as a launchpad for staging terror attacks inside Pakistani territory.

Sanitization operations are underway in the surrounding mountainous terrain to eliminate any remaining hostiles, the military stated.

Pakistan’s civil and military leadership reiterated their firm resolve to defeat foreign-backed militancy and maintain relentless pressure on extremist elements threatening peace and regional stability.
