Islamabad: Pakistani actress Sahar Hashmi has spoken out about the challenges faced by artists in the drama industry, questioning the unprofessional attitude of producers who allegedly delay payments to performers for months.

Sahar Hashmi, who made her acting debut with the drama serial ‘Zulm’, has steadily gained recognition in the entertainment industry over the past two to three years.

She rose to prominence following her performance in ‘Shehdai’, while her portrayal of Shahr Bano in ‘Zanjeerein’ further strengthened her popularity among viewers.

The actress is also set to appear in the upcoming drama Dar-e-Najat, where she will portray the younger version of the character Khushbakht.

Taking to her Instagram story, Sahar Hashmi drew attention to the issue of delayed payments, highlighting what she described as a double standard in the treatment of artists and producers.

She pointed out that an artist who delays work by even a single day is quickly branded unprofessional. However, when producers withhold artists’ payments for months, the delay is often dismissed as an accounting issue.

Her remarks have reignited discussion within the showbiz industry about artists’ rights, professional ethics, and the importance of ensuring timely payments to performers.

The actress’s statement has also highlighted a broader concern about accountability in the entertainment industry, where artists are expected to fulfil their professional commitments while often facing uncertainty over when they will receive their dues.
