Rizwan, Imam Ineligible for President’s Trophy

Islamabad: National cricketers Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq have reportedly become ineligible to participate in the upcoming President’s Trophy (Grade-I) after failing to undergo mandatory fitness tests for their respective departmental teams.

According to sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) requires departments to conduct fitness tests for players participating in first-class cricket and submit the relevant reports. However, no fitness reports for Rizwan or Imam-ul-Haq have been submitted by their respective departments.

Sources said that under the applicable rules, the absence of the mandatory fitness tests and reports makes both players ineligible to feature in domestic cricket.

Rizwan, who serves as vice-captain of Sui Northern Gas, was expected to lead the side in its opening match because regular captain Shan Masood is unavailable. Sui Northern Gas is scheduled to face State Bank in the first round of the President’s Trophy, beginning tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Imam-ul-Haq is the captain of OGDC, which is scheduled to open its campaign against PTV, with the match also starting tomorrow.

The development could force both departmental sides to make last-minute changes to their playing combinations ahead of the opening round.
