PTI Doctors’ Forum Leaders Reported Missing in Mardan

News Desk

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leaders, including the provincial president and general secretary of the party’s doctors’ wing, have reportedly gone missing, raising concerns over safety and political stability in the region.

The incidents occurred on Thursday, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly member Abdus Salam Afridi allegedly abducted by masked men in Mardan.

According to PTI Peshawar president Irfan Saleem, Afridi was intercepted by armed individuals while he was en route to offer Fateha for a friend’s relative.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that the assailants, traveling in two vehicles, forcibly took Afridi at gunpoint to an undisclosed location. The incident has prompted a swift response from PTI supporters, who gathered at Afridi’s residence following the news of his abduction.

This alarming development comes amid heightened tensions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where political rivalries have intensified.

The PTI’s leadership has expressed deep concern over the safety of its members, particularly in light of the upcoming protest march in Islamabad led by the chief minister.

The abduction of a sitting lawmaker underscores the precarious security situation in the province and raises questions about the government’s ability to protect its officials.

In response to these incidents, PTI leaders are calling for immediate investigations and increased security measures for political figures.

The party is expected to hold emergency meetings to discuss the implications of these abductions and to strategize on how to ensure the safety of its members moving forward.
