Local Residents Kill 12-Foot Python in Narowal

NAROWAL: A 12-foot python was shot dead by local residents after it emerged from agricultural fields in Narowal district on Tuesday.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours, alarming nearby villagers who reported the sighting to local authorities.

Witnesses described the python as a significant threat, prompting immediate action from the community.

“We were terrified to see such a large snake so close to our homes. It posed a danger to our children and livestock,” said a local farmer. Authorities confirmed that the snake was indeed a python, a species known to inhabit the region.

This incident raises concerns about human-wildlife conflict in rural areas of Pakistan, where agricultural expansion often encroaches on natural habitats.

Experts warn that such encounters could become more frequent as urban development continues to push wildlife into populated areas.

Local wildlife officials are expected to investigate the incident further and assess the python population in the region. Community leaders are also calling for awareness programs to educate residents on how to safely coexist with wildlife.
