Lahore Flooded as Monsoon Rains Lash Punjab

Lahore: The ongoing monsoon spell continued to affect several parts of Pakistan on Wednesday, bringing heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds that disrupted daily life in Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan.

In Lahore, torrential rain lashed areas including Gulberg, Jail Road, Ferozepur Road and Model Town, inundating low-lying localities and causing widespread inconvenience for residents. The downpour also led to the tripping of multiple Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) feeders, resulting in prolonged power outages in several neighborhoods.

Electricity supply remained suspended in areas including Garhi Shahu, Cavalry Ground, Shadman, Mughalpura, Firdous Market, Model Colony and Mecca Colony as technical teams worked to restore the affected feeders.

Meanwhile, thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds swept across several districts of Sindh, providing relief from the intense heat. Jacobabad and nearby areas received rainfall, while Kandhkot, Lakhi Ghulam Shah, Tuhl and surrounding regions also experienced showers with gusty winds.

In Balochistan, heavy rain triggered flooding in Kohlu district and nearby areas, with rainwater entering homes in Mohabbatabad, Nuqli, Murree Bazaar, Model Town and People’s Colony. Authorities issued evacuation instructions for residents living near the overflowing dam as a precautionary measure against further flooding.
