Riyadh: The Saudi-led military coalition has thwarted another alleged Houthi attack, destroying three drones over Riyadh and the southern region, according to a coalition spokesperson.

The development follows an earlier Houthi missile attack targeting Riyadh, which Saudi air defence systems reportedly intercepted and destroyed in mid-air.

In response to the ballistic missile attack, Saudi-led coalition forces launched a military operation in Yemen, targeting Houthi missile stockpiles and launch sites.

Coalition spokesperson Turki Al-Maliki said the operation destroyed five tunnels used to store ballistic missiles and four missile-launching platforms in Houthi-controlled areas. He added that Houthi defensive installations, gatherings of fighters and military equipment were also targeted.

Meanwhile, a Houthi attack in Yemen’s Hodeidah region reportedly caused extensive damage to a residential building containing nine apartments. The structure was partially reduced to rubble, with 25 people said to have been residing in the building.

The attack also damaged a neighbouring building and more than seven vehicles, according to the information provided.

The latest developments highlight continuing hostilities between the Saudi-led coalition and the Houthis, with attacks and retaliatory military operations raising concerns about civilian safety and regional security.
