Gun Attack on Quetta-Karachi Coach Leaves Three Dead

Mastung: At least three passengers were killed and three others injured after unidentified gunmen opened fire on a passenger coach travelling through Balochistan’s Mastung district on Wednesday, prompting a search operation by law enforcement agencies.
The attack occurred in the Khad Kocha area, where the coach was en route from Quetta to Karachi when armed assailants targeted the vehicle.
According to police, three passengers died at the scene, while the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Police, rescue teams and other law enforcement personnel rushed to the site, secured the area and began collecting evidence as part of the investigation.
Authorities said the motive behind the attack remains unclear, and efforts are underway to identify and arrest those responsible. A search operation has been launched in the surrounding area as investigations continue.
Security Crackdown Intensifies in Bannu
Security forces have intensified operations against militant networks in Bannu, with a joint intelligence-based operation entering its third consecutive day as authorities move to curb a recent rise in terrorist attacks in the region.
The latest operation was conducted in Grera Shah Jahan village by district police, Elite Force, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Pakistan Army personnel under the supervision of Bannu DPO Capt (retd) Muhammad Furqan Bilal.
During the operation, one militant was killed while allegedly attempting to plant an improvised explosive device (IED). Security personnel recovered an AK-47 rifle, magazines and other equipment from his possession.
Authorities also detained eight suspected militants for further investigation, while search operations led to the recovery of motorcycles and a rickshaw linked to a wanted militant.
Police said security forces have established cordons and blocking positions in the area to prevent suspects from escaping, adding that joint operations will continue until militant threats are eliminated.
The crackdown follows a series of attacks in Bannu, including assaults on police personnel and a recent attack on Miryan Police Station, where one police official was martyred and several security personnel and civilians were injured.
Security officials say intelligence-based operations are being expanded to dismantle militant networks and their support structures across the district.
