LARKANA: At least five people, including a father and his three sons, were shot dead on Saturday in a violent armed clash stemming from a long-standing personal enmity near the Ratodero-Jacobabad Road in Larkana, Sindh.
The tragic incident, which occurred on October 3, 2026, triggered widespread panic in the locality, prompting a heavy deployment of law enforcement personnel to prevent further escalation between the rival groups.
According to local police officials, the victims were traveling along the highway when armed assailants from an opposing clan intercepted them and opened indiscriminate fire.
The deceased were identified as a father and his three sons, alongside another close relative. Police authorities confirmed that the attack was the direct result of a deep-rooted dispute between two local groups, which had previously resulted in minor skirmishes before escalating into this fatal ambush.
This deadly encounter highlights the persistent challenge of tribal feuds and armed conflicts in rural Sindh, where weak local dispute resolution mechanisms often lead to bloody retaliatory violence.
Such incidents not only disrupt public safety on major transit routes like the Ratodero-Jacobabad highway but also underscore the urgent need for comprehensive judicial and police reforms to address the proliferation of illegal weapons in the region.
Following the incident, Sindh Police cordoned off the area and shifted the bodies to a nearby state hospital for post-mortem examinations.
Senior police officials stated that a high-level investigation team has been formed to track down the perpetrators, who fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Security has been tightened across the district, and raids are currently underway to apprehend the suspects and restore order.
