Five Killed as School Wall Collapses in Karachi

Karachi: At least five people were killed and two others injured after a wall of a municipal school collapsed in the Orangi Town area of Karachi, according to rescue officials.

The deceased were identified as Shahzeb, Moeen Sultan and three unidentified individuals.

Rescue officials said the victims were sitting near the structurally weak wall when it suddenly collapsed on them. Officials alleged that the people at the site were using drugs at the time of the incident.

Several people were injured in the collapse and were shifted to Abbasi Hospital for treatment. Two of the injured later succumbed to their injuries during treatment, bringing the death toll to five.

The two injured victims were identified as 26-year-old Qasim and 50-year-old Naushad.

Officials said the deceased were drug addicts, while further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the wall collapse is underway.
