Case Registered Over Alleged Gang Rape of Foreign Visitor

LAHORE: Defence-C police have registered a formal case against three unidentified men following allegations of gang-raping a 20-year-old Azerbaijani national who was visiting Pakistan for business purposes.
The incident, which has drawn urgent attention to the security and safety of foreign visitors, unfolded after the victim was allegedly lured away under the pretext of dinner by two local women.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the victim, she was approached by two women who invited her to dine out. The group proceeded to a local café where they were joined by three men whom the victim stated she can identify by face.
The suspects subsequently offered to drive the group, instead diverting the vehicle to an undisclosed flat where alcohol was consumed. The complainant reported that she was served an intoxicating substance, causing her to lose consciousness.
The harrowing ordeal underscores growing concerns regarding the safety of expatriates and international business delegations operating within major urban centres of Pakistan.
Incidents targeting foreign nationals not only inflict severe trauma on the victims but also threaten to project a negative image of the country’s law and order situation, potentially undermining tourism and foreign investment initiatives in Punjab.
Law enforcement authorities have launched a comprehensive manhunt to apprehend the suspects and trace the two women involved in luring the victim.
Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the café, Ghazi Interchange, and surrounding areas along Raiwind Road to identify the perpetrators, recover the victim’s stolen mobile phone and luggage, and bring the culprits to justice.
