A Love Story Between Pakistan and Italy

KALLAR KAHAR: A friendship that began through sign language on social media has culminated in marriage, as Nabeel Awan, a hearing-impaired young man from Kallar Kahar, tied the knot with Aurora Volpe, an Italian woman, after six years of friendship.
Their unusual love story began six years ago when the two connected on social media and developed a friendship through sign language. Despite living in different countries and facing communication barriers, their bond gradually grew stronger and eventually blossomed into love.
The couple’s story reached a happy milestone when Aurora Volpe arrived at Lahore Airport, where Nabeel Awan and his family warmly welcomed her with flowers.
After completing the necessary legal formalities, the couple exchanged marriage vows in Pakistan. Their wedding celebrations, including a traditional walima reception, were held in Kallar Kahar.
Adding a cultural touch to the celebrations, Aurora embraced Pakistani traditions by wearing traditional Pakistani attire. The newlyweds expressed their happiness and gratitude through sign language, appreciating the warmth, affection and hospitality extended by Nabeel’s family and the local community.
What makes their story particularly remarkable is that a friendship built entirely through sign language developed into a lifelong relationship despite the distance between Pakistan and Italy.
Their journey highlights how mutual understanding, trust and affection can overcome communication barriers, proving that love needs neither a common spoken language nor geographical proximity to flourish.
