Wind, Dust-thunderstorm With Rain Expected In KP

Peshawar/Abbottabad: The Met Office on Monday forecast wind, dust, and thunderstorms with rain in most parts of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and another spell of rain and hailstorms in Hazara division is likely to enter the region from May 22 evening to May 26.

A westerly wave is likely to enter the upper and central parts of the country on May 22 evening and is likely to persist in the upper and central parts during the week with sporadic gaps.

Met Office stated that during the period, wind, dust, and thunderstorms with rain and a few hailstorms are expected in Chitral, Lower and Upper Dir, Malakand, Buner, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Torghar, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Bajaur, Kurram, North and South Waziristan, Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, and DI Khan districts.

The Met advised farmers to exercise caution throughout the anticipated timeframe since wind and dust storms could harm standing crops and loose, fragile structures. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has instructed all district administrations and line departments to take preventative measures to minimize any property damage and human casualties.

Rain-thunderstorms in Abbottabad

The Meteorology Department informed that apart from other districts of KP, there is a possibility of rain, thunderstorms, and hailstorms in Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar, and Kohistan during the evening or night of May 22 to 26.

PDMA also issued a warning for the farmers and advised them to take timely measures to protect their crops and harvest, while livestock owners should take necessary precautions against strong winds, rain, and severe weather conditions.

District administrations also directed that people living near waterways stay informed about the weather conditions and contact the District Control Room at 09929310553 or Rescue 1122 emergency services in case of any emergency. Citizens were also urged to take precautionary measures and can contact the above-mentioned numbers 24/7 in case of an emergency.
