Islamabad: The first season of the biopic web series ‘Madar-i-Millat: A Sister’, based on the life of Fatima Jinnah, could not be released on the occasion of Independence Day.

At the beginning of August this month, the production company ‘Aur Digital, which is making the web series, announced its release on August 14 while releasing its new teaser. But the team released the Original Soundtrack (OST) video without its song and without releasing the web series.

The production company did not give a reason for not releasing it on August 14, but it is still being claimed that the web series will soon be released on digital platforms as well as TV screens.

This time, the OST video released for the web series has introduced several new characters, hinting that the web series will not only be mega-budget but will also feature a number of big characters.

The OST video also features prominent characters, including Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Jinnah, Allama Iqbal, and Mahatma Gandhi.

Prominent among those who will feature in the historical series are Aamir Qureshi (as Mohammad Ali Jinnah), Sarmad Khoosat (as Mahatma Gandhi), Usman Mukhtar (Allama Iqbal) and Sundas Farhan (Fatima Jinnah).

The story of the series consists of the life of Fatima Jinnah, but it will also show the political conditions of United India before the establishment of Pakistan and Fatima’s childhood and youth.

Directed by Daniyal K. Afzal, the period drama divides Jinnah’s life into three eras, with respect to major turning points, and stars Sundus Farhan, Sajal Aly and Samiya Mumtaz in each era respectively.

Each season of the three-season series will consist of 15 episodes, and the first season will show the childhood and youth of Fatima Jinnah, played by Sundus Farhan, before the establishment of Pakistan.

The first season will contain two volumes and 10 episodes, starting in 1910 and will include her brother Muhammad Ali Jinnah as winner of the first Muslim seat in Bombay, World War I, the Lucknow Pact, the relationship between Jinnah and his future wife Ruttanbai Petit and Fatima Jinnah’s strained relationship with her future sister-in-law.

Afzal further stated that the second season of the series will show the events of the independence movement, the partition of the subcontinent, and the creation of Pakistan, and in the third season Samia Mumtaz will play her older age.

The detailed 15-minute trailer of the web series released last year shows scenes of Fatima Jinnah before, during and after the establishment of Pakistan.

The trailer also features social media influencer Dananeer Mubeen, who plays the role of a journalist named Anita Poonawalla, and the character of Fatima Jinnah’s secretary Joseph played by Omar Abdullah.

The trailer also depicts the massacres that took place during the creation of Pakistan and the heart-wrenching scenes of dead bodies of children, women, and men in the train. It also shows Fatima Jinnah as a presidential candidate after the country’s creation.
