Two Women Stabbed to Death in Haripur

HARIPUR: In a brutal and chilling incident, two married women were stabbed to death over unknown motives within a span of 48 hours in Muhallah Saeedabad, sending shockwaves through the local community, police and hospital sources confirmed on Sunday.
According to the Kotnajibullah police, industrial worker Qaisar Mehmood returned home on Saturday evening to find the main entrance locked from the inside, prompting him to scale a neighbor’s roof after receiving no response to his repeated knocks.
Upon entering the house, Mehmood discovered his 32-year-old wife, Kiran Shehzadi, lying dead with fatal stab wounds on the stairs, while his elderly mother, Shafai Khanum, was found unconscious in her bedroom.
Both victims were immediately rushed to the Rural Health Centre in Kotnajibullah, where the injured mother was admitted for emergency medical treatment.
Investigators noted that the exact motive behind the heinous assault and the identities of the perpetrators remain entirely unclear, as no direct eyewitnesses have come forward yet.
This violent crime has heightened deep-seated concerns regarding domestic security and the rising wave of violent crime targeting vulnerable women in residential areas across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Civil society organizations and local residents have expressed profound alarm over the deteriorating law and order situation, emphasizing the urgent need for heightened neighborhood vigilance, robust community policing, and swift preventive measures by law enforcement agencies to protect households from such targeted atrocities.
Local police authorities stated that a comprehensive investigation is currently underway, utilizing forensic evidence gathered from the crime scene to trace the assailants.
Officials added that a definitive breakthrough in the murder case, including the establishment of a clear motive and identification of the culprits, hinges entirely on the recovery and subsequent statement of the surviving mother-in-law once she regains consciousness.
