Islamabad: Two members of an alleged dacoity gang were arrested in injured condition following an exchange of fire between armed suspects and a police team within the jurisdiction of Shalimar police station, Islamabad.

According to police, four armed suspects riding a motorcycle were spotted near Sector D-12 during a search operation launched after a citizen reported a robbery incident. When the police team signaled the suspects to stop, they allegedly opened indiscriminate fire and attempted to flee.

Police officials remained unharmed due to security measures and the use of bulletproof jackets. After the firing subsided, two suspects, identified as Noorullah and Bakhtiar Ali, were found injured in a nearby forested area, reportedly abandoned by their accomplices.

Police said both arrested suspects have previous criminal records involving dacoity, burglary, and other serious offenses. Noorullah was identified as an Afghan national and a repeat offender.

Investigators revealed that the suspects had earlier snatched a wallet containing Rs30,000 in cash, a national identity card, and an ATM card from a citizen.

During the operation, police recovered the stolen wallet, a motorcycle, and two pistols allegedly used in the crime from the suspects’ possession.

A search operation is ongoing to apprehend the remaining accomplices, while further investigation into the case is underway.
