ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory for October 22, 2026, announcing diversions on Srinagar Highway and several other major roads in the federal capital in connection with the movement of a foreign delegation.
According to the advisory, traffic diversions will be imposed at different locations and times on Srinagar Highway, particularly along the stretch from Serena Chowk to Ninth Avenue.
Traffic on Srinagar Highway will be diverted through alternative routes, including Suhrawardy Road, the G-8 and G-9 service roads, Zero Point and Faisal Avenue. Traffic heading towards Ninth Avenue has been advised to use the Service Road East.
Citizens travelling from Korang towards Islamabad have been advised to use the Old Airport route, Rawal Road, Murree Road in Rawalpindi, IJP. Road and Faquir Aipi Road.
In case of closures on Korang Expressway, Murree Road or Club Road, commuters can use Lehtrar Road and Park Road as alternative routes.
Similarly, motorists travelling out of Islamabad have been advised to use Jinnah Avenue and Margalla Road, while commuters coming from Bhara Kahu towards the capital should use the Bani Gala and Park Road routes.
The traffic police warned that the diversions could lead to increased traffic congestion on major roads and urged citizens to allow an additional 20 to 25 minutes for their journeys.
Traffic police personnel will remain deployed to facilitate commuters and manage traffic flow during the diversions.
Citizens have been advised to follow Islamabad Police’s official social media pages for further updates and information regarding traffic arrangements.
