Snow, Rain Forecast: PMD

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts a likelihood of rain combined with snowfall over the high mountains in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, and Kashmir.

According to the Met office, there’s an expectation of light rain or drizzle in the Potohar region and northeastern Punjab. A shallow westerly wave has been affecting the western and upper parts of the country and is expected to persist for the next 24 hours.

Most plain areas of the country are anticipated to experience mainly cold and dry weather, while the upper areas may have partly cloudy conditions.

In the last 24 hours, cold and dry weather dominated most parts of the country, with particularly chilly conditions in the northern areas. However, isolated places in Balochistan experienced cloudy weather and rain.

Fog and smog are likely to persist during the morning and night hours in the plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh. Recorded rainfall in Balochistan during the last 24 hours was Qalat with 02mm, and Quetta (Sumangli), Dalbandin, and Nokundi with 01mm.

The lowest minimum temperatures recorded were Leh at -11°C, Skardu at -08°C, Kalam, Gilgit at -05°C, Gupis, Srinagar at -04°C, and Hunza, Dir, and Astore at -03°C.
