Islamabad: “We will continue our struggle till the establishment of Khalistan,” said the Sikh community during a protest demonstration in front of the United Nations Office in Geneva to highlight the atrocities of the Modi government in India and the release of political prisoners of the Sikh community.

“Those who speak for the rights of the Sikh community in India and invoke the name of Khalistan are unconstitutionally and illegally imprisoned,” speakers addressing the protesters further stated.

The prisoners are not released even after the punishment given by the courts which is a blatant violation of the Geneva Convention and international law.

The speakers said that atrocities against Sikhs and other religious minorities are increasing day by day in India. And asked the international community to take notice of the cruelties against Sikhs, their extra-constitutional killings, and their forced disappearances in India.

Protesters were chanting slogans and carrying placards against the Modi government.

This protest is significant as the 53rd session of the Human Rights Council is underway at the UN Office in Geneva, where human rights organizations and diplomats from around the world are participating.
