RDA Files FIR Against Wazir Town Owners

Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has intensified its crackdown on unauthorized housing schemes and illegal construction, registering an FIR against the owners of Wazir Town Housing Scheme for allegedly violating building regulations.

According to an RDA spokesperson, the case was registered at Chaklala Police Station on the directives of RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza after the scheme’s owners allegedly continued construction despite repeated notices and the sealing of properties.

The authority said inspections found construction being carried out in violation of approved maps and plans, while mandatory approvals and No Objection Certificates (NOCs) had not been obtained.

The alleged violations fall under the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2021.

The latest action is part of a wider enforcement drive ordered by the RDA chief against encroachments, unauthorized structures and illegal commercial activities across the authority’s jurisdiction.

Kinza Murtaza has directed the Land Use and Building Control (LU&BC) Wing to take strict action against violations and ensure compliance with building and zoning regulations.

At the same time, the wing has been instructed to assess applicable fees and charges for the approval of illegal buildings, commercialization and supplementary plans, where regularization is legally possible.

The RDA said the enforcement measures are aimed at preventing illegal development and protecting citizens who invest their savings in residential and commercial properties.

The authority has also urged citizens to verify the legal status and approvals of housing schemes before investing and warned property owners to voluntarily remove encroachments to avoid penalties and potential financial losses.

The latest FIR signals a tougher approach by the development authority towards developers who continue construction despite regulatory action and sealed properties.
