SHARJAH: Former Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan made history on Thursday by becoming the first bowler to claim 200 wickets in men’s Twenty20 Internationals during Afghanistan’s second T20 match against Zimbabwe.
Rashid reached this remarkable milestone by trapping Tadiwanashe Marumani lbw for just two runs in the ninth over of the match.
Achieving this feat in his 120th T20 international, the 28-year-old leg-spinner boasts an impressive average of 13.96 and an economy rate of 6.13.
His record includes two five-wicket hauls, with his best figures standing at an astonishing 5-3.
With 200 wickets, Rashid comfortably leads the list of all-time wicket-takers in men’s T20 internationals, sitting 29 wickets ahead of England’s Adil Rashid, who holds the second position.
This achievement underscores Rashid’s dominance in the format and solidifies his status as one of the premier bowlers in international cricket.
Rashid Khan previously became the first Afghan bowler to reach 200 ODI wickets during a match against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi last October.
His latest accomplishment not only elevates his personal career but also brings pride to Afghan cricket, inspiring a new generation of players in the country.
