Punjabi Culture Day: A Celebration of Heritage, Unity

Islamabad: Dr Sughra Sadaf, a distinguished poet and writer, emphasized the significance of “Punjabi Culture Day” as a means to encourage the people of Punjab to cherish their mother tongues, thereby preserving their rich traditions and values.

On this occasion, Dr Sadaf urged individuals to actively engage in events that celebrate Punjabi culture, emphasizing their role in its promotion.

She highlighted the profound cultural heritage of Punjab, attributing it to the wisdom imparted by numerous scholars throughout history, who have contributed significantly to Punjabi language, culture, and literature.

Describing Punjab’s culture as a tapestry woven with threads of unity, love, and respect for humanity, Dr Sadaf painted a vibrant picture of the region’s festivals, cuisine, attire, and historical landmarks, which embody centuries of civilization.

She underscored the cultural richness of Punjab, which owes much to the influence of revered Sufi saints such as Hazrat Ali Hajveri, Baba Fariduddin Ganj Shakar, Sultan Bahu, and Balhe Shah.

According to her, the essence of observing Punjabi Culture Day lies in fostering love, brotherhood, and unity, echoing the inherent warmth and hospitality of Punjab. Dr Sadaf emphasized the unique identity of Punjabis worldwide, stressing the importance of cultural celebrations in preserving a nation’s history and heritage. Furthermore, she paid homage to pioneers in the realm of fine arts for their role in promoting love and civility on a national scale.
