Punjab to Implement Modern Healthcare Reforms

Lahore: Punjab’s Minister for Health and Emergency Services, Khawaja Salman Rafique, has laid out ambitious plans to revolutionize the province’s healthcare system.

During a meeting with representatives of the National Centre for Healthcare Workers USA, he stressed the importance of innovative solutions to rejuvenate healthcare infrastructure. Specifically, he highlighted the transformation of basic health units into fully operational hospitals as a key priority.

“We are fully committed to utilizing all available resources to elevate the standard of healthcare in Punjab,” the minister affirmed.

He highlighted forthcoming initiatives, including advanced training programs for nursing staff aimed at meeting international standards and bolstering diagnostic capabilities to effectively combat diseases.

Additionally, he unveiled plans to introduce private practice within government hospitals through public-private partnerships, with the goal of improving accessibility and the quality of care for the public.

Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of harnessing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare services to optimize patient outcomes.

Chairman of the National Center for Healthcare Workers USA, Shahab Tanveer, commended the minister’s unwavering dedication to healthcare reform and pledged full cooperation in advancing improvements within the nursing sector.

The meeting culminated in an agreement between the minister and the delegation to work closely together on implementing modern reforms, fortifying nursing departments, and broadening healthcare coverage through initiatives such as health cards.

Additional Secretary Nursing Usman Khalid, CEO of Punjab Health Initiative Management Company Dr. Ali Razzaq, and Manager of Monitoring and Evaluation at PHIMC Hasnat Ahmed were also in attendance.
