ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) has decided to engage the youth of the country to promote responsible and eco-friendly tourism throughout Pakistan.
In this regard, it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Pakistan Boys Scouts Association (PBSA) in Islamabad on Thursday.
The purpose of this joint-venture was to develop a working relationship between PTDC and PBSA that assures cooperation of both the organizations for sharing of information and opportunities to allow them to contribute to each other’s initiatives and work.
PTDC Managing Director Aftab ur Rehman Rana said “Our youth was our future and there was a dire need to engage them in healthy outdoor activities to shape their future making them useful citizens. This effort would go a long way in adding the capacity building of boy scouts and giving them a healthy environment besides their regular activities as tourism takes people close to nature, opening more opportunities of working with a healthy mind.”
PBSA Chief Commissioner Sarfaraz Qamar Daha said “It was a matter of great pleasure for PBSA that we were establishing a working relationship with PTCD to educate our young people about the rich history, culture and diverse landscape of Pakistan.
Sarfaraz Qamar stressed the need to facilitate the young generation to participate more and more in outdoor adventure and educational tourism activities for their self-growth and charter building.
According to details, the agreement focuses on working jointly on character building of scouts through various outdoor activities such as hiking, trekking, nature study camps, environment care events, leadership development workshops and capacity building events, organize activities for the promotion of educational tourism among students and youth and collaborate for national and international level activities.
Moreover, efforts would be made to promote a sense of responsible tourism among the young people through various awareness campaigns which would be jointly organized by PTDC and PBSA.
