PMD Forecasts Rain, Thunderstorms Across Pakistan

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rain and thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds in various parts of the country, including Islamabad, Sindh, southern Punjab, Kashmir, northeastern and southern Balochistan, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, starting today.

According to the PMD, hot and humid weather prevailed over most regions during the past 24 hours. However, heavy rainfall is expected in parts of southern Sindh, eastern Balochistan, and Kashmir, while other areas will continue to experience hot and humid conditions.

In the federal capital and surrounding areas, the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy and humid, with chances of rain during the night.

In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, while most districts will remain hot and humid, scattered rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds is expected in Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kurram, and Waziristan.

Punjab will also experience partly cloudy and humid conditions. However, rain and thunderstorms are likely in Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan. Later tonight, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galyat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, and nearby areas are also expected to receive rainfall.

In Sindh, rainfall with thunderstorms is forecast for Mirpurkhas, Mithi, Tharparkar, Badin, Sujawal, Umerkot, Chhachhro, Padidan, Khairpur, Karachi, Thatta, Ghotki, Chhor, Sukkur, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Larkana, Naushahro Feroze, Sanghar, Dadu, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Matiari, and Shaheed Benazirabad. Some areas may witness heavy rainfall.

In Balochistan, hot and humid weather is likely to persist in most areas, with rain and thunderstorms expected in Barkhan, Sibi, Kohlu, Musakhel, Killa Saifullah, Loralai, Dera Bugti, Nasirabad, Zhob, Kalat, Khuzdar, Awaran, and Lasbela.

For Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, partly cloudy weather with rain and thunderstorms is forecast, with heavy rainfall expected at isolated locations in Kashmir.

The PMD has advised citizens to remain cautious during thunderstorm activity and avoid unnecessary travel in areas where heavy rainfall and strong winds are expected.
