ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to achieving a polio-free Pakistan, describing the task as a significant challenge that strengthens their resolve.
During a recent address, he emphasized the importance of collective efforts in combating the disease, which has plagued the nation for decades.
The Prime Minister highlighted the ongoing vaccination campaigns and the need for increased public awareness to ensure that every child receives the polio vaccine.
He stated, “Our determination to eradicate polio is stronger than ever, and we will not rest until we achieve this goal for our children and future generations.”
The government has been working closely with international health organizations to bolster its efforts.
This initiative is crucial not only for public health but also for the country’s international standing, as a polio-free status is vital for travel and trade.
The Prime Minister’s remarks come at a time when Pakistan has made significant progress in reducing polio cases, yet challenges remain in certain regions where misinformation and vaccine hesitancy persist.
Looking ahead, the government plans to launch a series of community engagement programs aimed at educating parents about the benefits of vaccination.
Additionally, officials are set to convene with health experts next month to assess the current strategies and explore new methods to enhance the vaccination drive.
