Lahore: Head Coach of the Pakistan men’s national football team, Stephen Constantine, has emphasized the team’s determination to face Jordan in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

Despite the challenges posed by formidable opponents, Constantine highlighted the team’s mindset of resilience and strategic focus.

The upcoming match against Jordan on March 21 at Jinnah Stadium Islamabad presents a significant test for Pakistan, considering Jordan’s stature as one of Asia’s top football teams.

Constantine acknowledged the difficulty for Pakistan in competing in the World Cup Qualifiers, especially against strong opponents with limited preparation time.

Regarding Pakistan’s participation in the FIFA World Cup 2026, Constantine stated that the team is not currently aiming for qualification in this tournament or possibly the next one.

Instead, the focus remains on preparing for the Asian Cup Qualifiers and the SAFF Championship.

In efforts to strengthen the squad, Constantine mentioned the inclusion of diaspora players in the training camp.

Additionally, he emphasized the importance of establishing a professional football league in Pakistan to nurture local talent effectively.

Acknowledging the tough competition within their qualifying group, which includes teams like Saudi Arabia and Tajikistan, Constantine sees this as an opportunity for Pakistani players to gain valuable experience and exposure that will contribute to their development in the long term.
