Overcharging: CTP Launches Operation Against Transporters In Pindi

News Desk

Rawalpindi: The City Traffic Police (CTP) has begun a massive operation against transporters who overcharge their passengers. City Traffic Officer (CTO) Taimoor Khan stated that transporters have already been warned to stop overcharging or risk stern legal action. Khan further said that they have formed special squads to monitor these buses and coaches.

If they find a public service vehicle (PSV) overcharging passengers, they are issued a ticket and slapped with a heavy fine, said Taimoor Khan.

To make sure that transporters don’t dodge the fines, the CTO also directed traffic police, sector in-charges and wardens to keep a strict check on overcharging on public transport.

Meanwhile, the district police conducted raids in different areas and netted five suspects for possessing illegal weapons.

According to the CPO sources, the City, Wah Cantt, and Saddar Wah police conducted raids in their respective jurisdictions and arrested five, namely Qaiser, Qasim, Akram, Sami, and Moaz, and recovered five 30-bore pistols and ammunition.

Separate cases have been registered against them while further investigations are underway.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Amir Khan Niazi said that operations against aerial firing and people in possession of illicit weapons will continue. Strict legal action is being taken against lawbreakers, he added.
