Over 91kg of Drugs Seized

Rawalpindi: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has intensified its crackdown against drug trafficking, conducting seven operations across the country and arresting 12 suspects while recovering more than 91 kilograms of narcotics worth over Rs142 million.

The seizures included hashish, opium, heroin and ice, with authorities intercepting suspected drug consignments at airports, toll plazas and other key transportation routes.

In a major operation near Khanozai in Pishin district, ANF officials recovered 72 kilograms of hashish from a truck and arrested the accused. 

In Peshawar, 10.8 kilograms of opium was seized from a vehicle near University Road, leading to the arrest of three individuals.

At Islamabad International Airport, 362 grams of ice were recovered from the luggage of a passenger travelling to Jeddah, who was taken into custody.

ANF also intercepted a vehicle near Lahore’s Ravi Toll Plaza and recovered 5.4 kilograms of heroin, arresting three suspects. 

Another operation near Jamshoro Toll Plaza resulted in the seizure of 1.3 kilograms of ice and the arrest of two suspects.

In separate actions, 1.2 kilograms of hashish was recovered near Islamabad Toll Plaza, while 500 grams of hashish was seized from a suspect near Airport Road in Sukkur.

The operations highlight ANF’s focus on monitoring major road networks, toll plazas and international travel routes to prevent the movement of narcotics within and beyond the country.

Cases have been registered against the arrested suspects under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act (CNSA), 1997, and further investigations are underway.
