Hyderabad: In the National Assembly Constituency NA 209 Sanghar I, a direct face-off is anticipated between Shazia Atta Mari, former Federal Minister and Central Information Secretary of PPP, and Muhammad Khan Junejo, representing the GDA.

Former MNA Muhammad Khan Junejo, who recently switched allegiance from PPP to GDA, enjoys support from multiple parties, including MQM. Both contenders hold formidable positions in this constituency.

In the past, this constituency has been a stronghold of the PML (functional).

However, in the previous election, Shazia Mari secured the PPP’s hold on this seat for the first time, setting the stage for another intense competition in this constituency.

The total number of voters in NA 209 Sanghar I stands at 607,638, comprising 281,283 female voters and 326,355 male voters.

During her recent speak, Shazia Mari emphasized that essential amenities have been extended to urban areas, including the Achro Thar region of this constituency, which had been neglected for the past 70 years.

She highlighted efforts to provide clean drinking water, employment opportunities, and the best road network to the people.

She also pledged to gift the people of the district with a new NICVD hospital if successful in the upcoming elections.

On the other hand, GDA candidate Muhammad Khan Junejo criticised the PPP for neglecting the constituency during its tenure, stating that it is a pity to see the condition of the people.

He promised to lay a net for development projects and amenities in the area if elected.
