Multan opt to bowl against Rawalpindiz

Lahore: Multan Sultans won the toss and elected to bowl first against Rawalpindiz in the 14th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 at Gaddafi Stadium on Monday.
The fixture marks the first-ever meeting between the two sides in the tournament, with Multan opting to chase under the Lahore conditions. Further match details are awaited as the game progresses.
Meanwhile, Rawalpindiz have suffered a major setback ahead of the contest, with pacer Naseem Shah ruled out indefinitely due to injury.
In a statement, the franchise confirmed that the right-arm fast bowler sustained a side injury during their recent match against Karachi Kings. The team’s medical staff is closely monitoring his recovery, with a possible return later in the tournament dependent on fitness clearance.
The franchise described Naseem’s presence as “invaluable” and expressed confidence in his return once fully recovered.
The 25-year-old had a difficult start to the tournament, managing just one wicket against Karachi and conceding 51 runs in his opening appearance.
His absence adds to an already turbulent campaign, as he was earlier fined by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for breaching central contract and social media guidelines.
The controversy arose during the PSL 11 opening ceremony at Gaddafi Stadium on March 27, attended by Maryam Nawaz. A post from Naseem’s social media account questioning the treatment of the chief minister sparked widespread debate.
The pacer later clarified that his account had been hacked and that the post was not intentional. However, the PCB disciplinary committee found him in violation of multiple clauses, resulting in a fine of Rs20 million.
As Rawalpindiz adjust to the absence of their key bowler, the focus shifts back to the ongoing clash, where Multan Sultans will look to capitalise after choosing to field first.
