Sialkot: Police have arrested a man after his wife reported an alleged assault and forcible shaving of her head following a domestic dispute in the Sadar Daska area.
The woman sought help through the Virtual Women Police Station by calling emergency helpline 15, where she reported that her husband had allegedly assaulted her during an altercation and cut her hair with scissors before shaving her head.
Following the complaint, District Police Officer (DPO) Captain (Retd.) Dost Muhammad directed police to take immediate legal action. A case was subsequently registered against the accused, who was arrested, according to a police spokesperson.
The DPO said violence, intimidation, humiliation and any act compromising a woman’s dignity would not be tolerated.
He stressed that domestic disagreements could not be used to justify physical violence, coercion or humiliation against women.
The DPO said Sialkot Police had established a range of services under the Punjab government’s women-protection initiatives, including the Virtual Women Police Station, Victim Support Officer, Tahaffuz Centre, Women Safety App and Pink Mobile Police Station.
These facilities were aimed at providing women with timely assistance and protection in situations involving threats, violence or harassment, he added.
Police urged victims of domestic violence and other forms of abuse to contact emergency helpline 15 or the Virtual Women Police Station for immediate assistance.
The police spokesperson reiterated the department’s commitment to safeguarding women’s dignity, safety, lives and fundamental rights across the district.
