Lahore Gymkhana Suspends Member Over Hooliganism Incident
News Desk
LAHORE: The Lahore Gymkhana Club has suspended the membership of a member linked to an influential family following his alleged involvement in a hooliganism incident at the club.
This decision comes after a video surfaced on social media depicting disruptive behavior by several individuals within the club premises.
Club chairman Salman Saddique confirmed the suspension, stating that it aligns with the club’s standard operating procedures for serious breaches of discipline, whether occurring inside or outside the club. He emphasized that a three-member standing discipline committee, composed of independent senior members, is currently investigating the matter.
Sources indicate that the suspended member not only exhibited inappropriate behavior towards club staff but also engaged in a physical altercation with other members over a dispute related to a guest. The incident has drawn widespread condemnation from fellow club members, who are urging the executive committee to take decisive action against those involved and implement measures to prevent future occurrences.
As the investigation unfolds, the club administration is expected to convene soon to discuss the findings and determine appropriate disciplinary actions. This incident raises concerns about maintaining decorum within social clubs and the responsibilities of members to uphold the club’s standards.
