KP Bars Officials From Facilitating Islamabad March

News Desk
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah has issued strict directives barring all provincial government officials from complying with any orders aimed at aiding or facilitating processions toward the federal capital ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s planned September 27 march on Islamabad.
According to an official memorandum addressed to administrative secretaries, the police department, and field formations, the directive was issued in light of explicit instructions from the Islamabad High Court regarding rallies and marches heading toward the Islamabad Capital Territory.
The court order specifically mandates provincial chief secretaries and inspectors general of police to ensure no state machinery or resources are utilized to back political processions.
The administrative warning underscores the escalating political tensions between the provincial administration in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the federal authorities.
By ordering personnel to bypass and immediately report any coercive commands from superiors to aid the demonstration, the chief secretary’s office seeks to insulate the civil bureaucracy and police force from partisan political friction.
As the September 27 deadline approaches, administrative and security machinery across the province remains on high alert.
Officials who face pressure to assist the march have been instructed to directly notify the chief secretary or inspector general of police to maintain strict adherence to judicial directives.
