JI Chief Threatens Train March Over Fuel Levy Relief Demands

HYDERABAD: Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, has issued a stern warning to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
He said that if relief on the petroleum levy is not provided, a train march will commence. Speaking at a protest against the petroleum levy on September 30, 2026, Rehman emphasized the urgency of the situation.
During his address, Rehman criticized the government’s handling of fuel prices and urged the Prime Minister to take immediate action to alleviate the financial burden on citizens.
He stated, “If the Prime Minister provides relief on the petroleum levy, it will be acceptable; otherwise, we will initiate our train march to demand justice for the people. We are giving a few days’ notice for this action.”
This statement comes amid rising public discontent over increasing fuel prices, which have significantly impacted the cost of living in Pakistan.
The petroleum levy has been a contentious issue, with many citizens struggling to cope with the financial strain. Rehman’s remarks highlight the growing frustration among political parties and the public regarding government policies.
Looking ahead, Jamaat-e-Islami plans to mobilize its supporters for the proposed train march if their demands are not met.
