Islamabad: HMD Global has introduced the Nokia 123 Shield, a rugged feature phone that draws inspiration from the legendary Nokia 3310, bringing back the brand’s reputation for durability in a modern package.

Instead of focusing on AI tools or premium smartphone features, the Nokia 123 Shield is designed for users who need a reliable device that can withstand demanding environments. A reinforced, impact-resistant body and an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance make it suitable for outdoor work, travel and emergency use.

The phone features a 2.4-inch display and is powered by a single-core Unisoc processor running the lightweight S30+ operating system. It comes with 4MB of RAM and 4MB of internal storage, which can be expanded by up to 32GB via a microSD card.

Battery life is among the handset’s standout features. Its removable 1,750mAh battery is rated to deliver up to 19 days of standby time on 2G networks, making it an attractive option for users who need a dependable backup phone.

HMD has also added several practical features, including a USB-C charging port, an extra-bright LED flashlight, wireless FM radio and a textured, slip-resistant exterior for a secure grip.

However, buyers should note that the Nokia 123 Shield supports only 2G connectivity, meaning availability and usability will depend on whether local mobile operators continue to maintain 2G networks.

The rugged feature phone is expected to be priced between €35 and €40 in Europe, making it one of the more affordable options for consumers seeking a durable secondary handset or an emergency device.

With the Nokia 123 Shield, HMD is reviving the simplicity and resilience that made classic Nokia phones famous, proving there is still demand for reliable feature phones in an era dominated by high-end smartphones.
