Govt Allocates Rs 27 Billion for Health in Budget

Islamabad: The government has allocated Rs 27,000 million for 27 ongoing and 14 new schemes under the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the fiscal year 2024-25.
According to the budgetary document released on Wednesday, Rs 7,131.330 million is designated for ongoing schemes, while Rs 19,868.670 million is earmarked for new schemes.
Among the new allocations, Rs 5,000 million is set aside for the Prime Minister National Programme for Elimination of Hepatitis C Infection and Rs 2,000 million for the Prime Minister National Programme for Prevention of Diabetes.
Additionally, Rs 3,000 million is allocated for the establishment of Stroke Intervention and Expansion of Critical Care Facilities at PIMS, and Rs 2,050 million for the procurement of equipment for the establishment of a Cancer Hospital in Islamabad.
Further allocations include Rs 1,500 million for the strengthening and upgradation of cardiology and other facilities at the Federal Government Polyclinic (FGPC) in Islamabad, and Rs 550 million for Phase-II of the Sehat Sahulat Programme (SSP).
Moreover, Rs 800 million is earmarked for the establishment of a 200-bed Accident and Emergency facility at PIMS (PC-II), and Rs 307 million for the purchase of new electro-medical equipment to replace obsolete equipment and enhance medical care.
An additional Rs 1,060.093 million is allocated for the establishment of a Cancer Hospital in Islamabad, and Rs 609.649 million for the upgradation of the Radiology Department at Shaikh Zayed Hospital in Lahore.
