KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced that a Chinese company, HBSZ, is prepared to undertake the laying of a water pipeline in Karachi.
This development was revealed during his visit to the HBSZ facility in Wuhan’s Hanyang District, where discussions centered on the K4 pipeline project and the replacement of gates at the Sukkur Barrage.
During the visit, CM Shah emphasized the importance of these infrastructure projects for Karachi, a city grappling with severe water shortages.
He stated, “The collaboration with HBSZ is crucial for enhancing the water supply system in Karachi, which is vital for the city’s growing population and economic activities.” The K4 pipeline project aims to significantly improve the water supply to the metropolis, which has long faced challenges in meeting its water demands.
This agreement marks a significant step towards addressing Karachi’s water crisis, which has implications for public health and economic stability. Improved water supply is expected to benefit millions of residents and support local businesses, thereby contributing to the overall development of the region.
Looking ahead, the Sindh government plans to expedite the project timeline and will hold further meetings with HBSZ to finalize the details.
The government aims to ensure that the project is completed efficiently and on schedule, with the first phase expected to commence within the next few months.
