Captain Martyred as Forces Kill 7 Terrorists in Hangu

Hangu: A 27-year-old Pakistan Army captain was martyred during a fierce intelligence-based operation in Hangu district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, in which security forces killed seven terrorists, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The operation was launched on intelligence reports about the presence of terrorists linked to Fitnat-ul-Kharij in the area. During the operation, security forces engaged the militants in an intense exchange of fire.

According to the ISPR, some of the terrorists took refuge inside a mosque during the confrontation, violating the sanctity of the place of worship. Security forces subsequently eliminated all seven terrorists, including those hiding inside the mosque.

A substantial cache of weapons, ammunition and other equipment was also recovered from the militants, the military’s media wing said.

The ISPR stated that the killed terrorists had been involved in multiple attacks targeting security forces, law enforcement personnel and civilians.

Captain Hamza Akram, who was leading the operation from the front, continued pursuing the militants despite the intense fighting. He fought bravely and embraced martyrdom during the operation.

The ISPR said Captain Hamza Akram belonged to Narowal district and had been leading his troops on the frontline when he made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of the country.

Following the operation, security forces launched a sanitisation effort in the area to locate and eliminate any remaining terrorists.

The military said counterterrorism operations would continue until the threat posed by foreign-sponsored terrorism is completely eliminated.

The ISPR paid tribute to the sacrifices of security personnel in the fight against terrorism, saying their commitment further strengthens Pakistan’s resolve to protect the country’s security and peace.
